Trial of Chairman Mao: Witness Question Sheet
Directions: You as a witness are to write four questions and answers in the perspective of your character using the book as a reference. You should find passages from the novel in support of Chairman Mao OR evidence against him depending the side of the case you are representing. Remember to USE page numbers and POST these questions on your blog. Lawyers, use this document to create cross-examination questions. Two per character should be sufficient.

1. Question: Do you support Chairman Mao?
Answer: Yes I do, because on page 160-161, I said the class would learn about Chairman Mao by his works,and his quotes in English. Also, on page 224 to 225, I tried to convert Ji-Li with Chairman Gin adn Thin face to become a Mao's child.
2. Question: Will you teach the students equally? Even the black whelps?
Answer: Yes, because on page 198, I said this to Ji-Li (Who is a black whelp) to try make her into one of Mao's people. "We cannot choose our families or our class status. But we can choose our own futures. No,you are not a leader,but you are still an -educable child-. You can overcome your family background, you have self-esteem, and you always try to excel. That's why I believe you are brave enough to face and eventually overcome the difficulties of life"
3. Question: What do you feel about the exhibition?
Answer: I felt that I am really one of Mao's men by making the exhibition about his teachings. On page 221, I said this to Ji-Li. This exhibition is really a powerful weapon, and if appropiately used, it can strengthen class identification and deepen the hatred of class enemies. I did also want her to put Chairman mao's rightful qoutes to make it connected to Mao.
4. Question: Do you try to convert black whelps into Mao's people?
Answer: Yes I do. I tried to convert Ji-Li with Teacher Zhang and Thin-face on page 224 through page 225.

RED SCARF GIRL STUDY QUESTION
1. Who are the members of Ji-Li’s family? Describe her family home. What class status does her family belong to? What is the occupation of her father? Mother?
1A. The members of Ji-Li’s family are her father, mother, her grandmother who helped found the Xin Er Primary School-Ji-Li’s school-and she also become it’s vice-principal. Ji-Li also has one sister and one brother whose names are Ji-Yong and Ji-Yun. Ji-Yong is eleven, and Ji-yun is ten. Ji-Li also had a nanny called Song Po-po, who’s so close to them; she treats her like another grandmother. For Ji-LI’s extended family, she has a fourth auntie, a cousin named You-Mei, and You-Mei’s daughter, a baby named Hua-Hua. All these facts are from pages thirteen to fifteen.
1B. Her family home is an apartment, and she lives on the top floor. There’s a French window and really bright ceiling, a kitchen, and each of them has their own private bathrooms with sinks, toilets, and a tub. All these facts are from pages fifteen to sixteen.
1C. Ji-Li’s father’s occupation is a stage actor, and Ji-Li’s mom used to be an actress, but now, retired she works in a sports-equipment store. All these facts are from page 13.
2. What is Ji-Li’s life at school like? What special honor is Ji-Li picked for at school? Describe Ji-Li’s parent’s reaction. What does Ji-Li do instead of entering the audition?
2A. Ji-LI is and outstanding student in her school, an Excellent Young Pioneer, and even the da-dui-zhang, the student chairman of the whole school. All these facts can be found on page nine.
2B. Ji-Li was picked for an audition to join the Central Liberation Army Arts Academy. These facts are from page 7. Ji-Li’s parent’s reactions were shocked and worried, also a little bit of fear. These facts are from pages eight to ten, when Ji-Li was having conversation with her parents.
2C. Instead of going to the audition, Ji-Li gave a note to principal Long from her father. Page eleven.

Flex Day Field Trip Reflection
6. How old do you think the workers here are, on average?
The workers was about 24 years old on average. Most of them looked young and just started working.
Observations: 1) A lot of people didn't have shoes.
2) The equipments still looked new and looked dangerous at the same time.

Elliot's Expose
"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92) (Elliot)

What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)
Elliot is trying to tell poeple to realize what is really happening in the school, like people are really getting bullied. For instance, Elliot got bullied badly when the jock rots threw him "Accidently" into the river on page 59 and Catalina also got bullied by Bethany a lot in the book by feelings instead of physical. He is also saying that there is different kind of bullyings and to think of yourself, like "What if I got bullied?" or "If I had no friends and I'm the only victim, a lot of bad stuff could happen!". So his main point is that bullying is the largest problem in the school and a lot of people hasn't realised that and doesn't care about it at all.

Blog Role Reversal
Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.
1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
I think Russel was so opposed to the idea because, Richie has been acting differently from usual. He still doesn't know if he's good or evil, because Richie helped him out on page 97, and still threthens him. If he writes about him, the information could be wrong and it could be like Elliot said, "You're afraid he'll pound you again if you do".
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
Their cooperation is still bully and victim type. Richie helped Russel once on page 97, but he still threatens Russel. So I think their relationship is getting worse and worse, or it could be a little more cooperative than usual.
